The Community and Technical College Foundation of Ashland, Inc., was founded in 1995 as a way for what was then Ashland Community College to more effectively manage the many scholarships and outside gifts it was receiving. In 2003, following the merger of Ashland Community College and Ashland Technical College into Ashland Community and Technical College, the foundation's name was changed to reflect that fact, but it's mission remains the same - to provide flexible funding that the college can use to improve the education of its students. The foundation's initial activities led to a precedent-setting campaign that raised more than $2 million for student financial assistance, faculty and staff professional development, workforce training development and seed money for capital projects. The Community and Technical College Foundation of Ashland, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. The determination letter is available upon request. The foundation is incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. In July 2004, the CTCFA was honored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) with a Wealth ID Award for Overall Improvement in Educational Fund Raising. CASE annually recognizes extraordinary achievements in educational fund-raising through these awards with a series of prizes honoring the nation's leading colleges, universities and preparatory schools.
